Welcome one and all to RKC 2018!


The first two rounds of the 20-round championship take place at Daytona Tamworth on February 11th.


To book into the event, please, as always, email clarkmcowell@talktalk.net with your name and weight in kgs so we know in advance which class to allocate you to. 


We have a lot of returning members from previous years, and some new blood coming to join us. 


The racing starts at 10am, could all drivers please arrive before 9:45am so we can get everyone signed in and ready for the briefing on time? We start signing in at 9:15am. This gives you 30 mins to arrive.


We do like to start promptly so please make sure you are signed in by 9:45am.

Round 3 & 4 - ELK Karting Newark, Sunday 4th March, Race Start 10.00 am, Cost £65.00 per driver.

 

Round 5 & 6 - Grand Prix Karting Birmingham, Sunday 15th April, Race Start 10.30 am, Cost £60.00 per driver.

 

Round 7 & 8 - Sutton Circuit, Saturday 12th May, Race Start 2.00 pm, Cost £55.00 per driver.

 

Round 9 & 10 - Daytona Milton Keynes, Sunday 3rd June, Race Start 10.00 am, Cost £70.00 per driver.

 

Round 11 & 12- Daytona Tamworth, Saturday 30th June, Race Start 10.00 am, Cost £65.00 per driver.

 

Round 13 & 14 - ELK Karting Newark, Sunday 22nd July, Race Start 10.00 am, Cost £65.00 per driver.

 

Round 15 & 16 - Grand Prix Karting Birmingham, Sunday 2nd September, Race Start 10.30 am, Cost £60.00 per driver.

Carol Cheetham Memorial Trophy
- 3 Hour Team Endurance Race, Sutton Circuit, Race Start 1.00 pm, Cost TBC.

 


Format


As per previous seasons, the format remains unchanged.

 

Drivers will take part in a 10-minute Qualifying session to determine starting positions for Race One of the day. As soon as Qualifying is over, drivers will be lined up and they will race their first race, a 20 minute fight to the flag.

 

Drivers will then have a short break before lining up for their second race. They will then have another 20 minute race to the flag.
Points are awarded to the top 10 drivers in each race.

 

 

 

Planned Itinerary For A 10am Start:


9:15am
: Arrival to circuit, Sign-In and Weigh-In.

10:00am: Briefing.

10:15am: First Group, 10-Minute Qualifying Session.

10:25am: First Group, Race 1 (20 Minutes).

10:50am: Second Group, 10-Minute Qualifying Session.

11:00am: Second Group, Race 1 (20 Minutes).

11:25am: First Group, Race 2 (20 Minutes).

11:50am: Second Group, Race 2 (20 Minutes).

12:20pm: Medal Presentation and Podium Photos.

IF A ROUND HAS TO ACCOMMODATE ANY EXTRA GROUPS/RACES, THE TIMING WILL BE EXTENDED BY 35 MINS PER GROUP.

 

Weight classes for the 2018 Championship are as follows:


Lightweight: 65kg - 78.3kg.
 

Mediumweight: 78.4kg - 91.6kg.  

Heavyweight:  91.7kg+.


All drivers will be weighed in overalls and helmet. please be aware that should any driver loosing or gaining weight and therefore having to change weight classes during the season will be deducted a total of 20 points from their overall score.

 

Points scoring for 2018 will be as follows:

Drivers will be allowed to drop four races during the season, with their best SIXTEEN races counting towards the championship.

 

1st = 12 pts.  

2nd = 10 pts.  

3rd = 8 pts.  

4th = 7 pts.  

5th = 6 pts. 

6th = 5 pts.  

7th = 4 pts.

8th = 3 pts.  

9th = 2 pts. 

10th = 1 pt. 

 

Pole Position for Race 1: 1 point.

Fastest Lap (each race): 1 point.

In the event of a tie, the position will go to the Driver who has the highest number of pole positions or fastest laps.
